Forgive the self-indulgence but I thought it would be good to share this with you. Annie and I competed today in our first charity run.

This was for the 'British Lung Foundation' and it was only 5 Km, which is not an earth-shattering event but as a couple of 'old' ex-smokers, we were both well pleased.

Setting achievable targets is a good management technique and our next target is to run 7 marathons in 7 continents in 7 days in 7 days time!

I'm jesting of course - a 10Km race is our next objective!

Congratulations! That is a wonderful accomplishment. I don't think I could ride a bicycle 5 KM. Way to go and keep it up.

So there you go Rocky - a new year resolution (in April!!)for you - a 5Km bike ride across Kentucky my friend!!

If we 'ancient' (I speak for myself really) ex smokers can run 5 Km after three months training you can bike it with your two kids!

Us Manchester United fans must stick together!

I was just wondering, since you are embracing Annie in the picture under the article, does that mean you think she is eccentric/ hahahahaha

Trevor DOES think I'm eccentric as a matter of fact. I don't know why. Hey Rocky, have you ever eaten ice cream sandwiches? Delicious.

Hi Rocky

I can confirm Annie's eccentricity ...it is one of her endearing qualities of course ...

Ice cream sandwiches, jogging in nuns outfit and wellington boots ... sounds perfectly normal doesn't it??!!

Why change the habit of a life time?

actually ice cream sandwiches are one of my very favorite. the problem is I often half a dozen at a time.

Only half a dozen? I have the honour of being runner-up (overseas competitors category) at the 'Glutton of the Year' competition at the Kentucky Ice Cream Sandwich Derby, earlier this year. Trevor Gay won first prize. He says his success was due to a wonderful little book, "Simplicity is the Key to Eating", published in 2004, available in all good book shops.

The Kentucky Derby is in full swing right now. this town goes crazy. My sisters are going to be on the Tonight show with Jay Leno tonight. 4-29-05 for the derby festival Bed Race. It is silliness at its best. It is pretty cool; that they will be on National television. All for acting like fools. Thge bed race is really zany. I can;t even really describe it. It is really funny though. i don;t know if you American TV but if you do this will be funny to watch. I can swill more beer than Ice cream sandwiches though.
