Sometimes I come across song lyrics that portray very accurately the challenges faced in leadership and management.
This week we bought the newly released CD called 'Mountains' by Texas based band Lonestar and came across these wonderful lyrics:
‘Walking’s easy when the road is flat … the good Lord gave us mountains so we can learn how to climb.’
Sounds familiar - I love that.
Do you have any song lyrics that offer inspirational and yet simple advice?

I don’t know about inspirational, but what about the Stones’ “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction” for customer (lack of) service? Read next Wednesday’s (15th November) Random Ramblings at www.davidwike.co.uk for an account of nearly but not quite satisfaction!
Hi David - I will look out for that .. I guess for customer service another one could be 'When will they ever learn?' by Peter Paul and Mary ...that gives away my age a bit
How about "living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see" Strawberry Fields Forever)?
We can so easily get into habits, prejudices, and routines that stop us from seeing things and people afresh. It seems to take a great deal of effort to really look and listen without pre-judging the situation or the person, but it's almost always worth it when we do.
All the Best
Great comment tomjam.
During my career I have often been told 'watch out for him or her - they can't be trusted’ or words to that effect. When I have got to know those people they invariably are not the person they have been painted. ‘Speak as you find’ is my own mantra and I try very hard not to pre-judge although I appreciate it is not always easy to remain impartial and unbiased.
As regards ‘getting stuck’ in our comfort blanket and hanging on to the status quo, I well remember the reaction in my office of 30 or so people to my suggestion that we should all move desks every six months. The reasons people found to stay where they were are amazing. My theory was that by sitting opposite someone else keeps us alert and helps our learning. My idea was not popular and apart from me only one or two other people agreed to move around. A long way to go methinks – thanks again for your support to Simplicity Blog.
