The unique and wonderful world of Joe Walsh

Thanks to John O'Leary my good friend across the pond for reminding me again of this hilarious interview with the absolute legend that is Joe Walsh one of my heroes in The Eagles. If you feel the need to brighten up your day do have a listen - its less than 3 minutes.

Whaat?? No Joe Walsh fans out there? (The guy GETS it about simplicity, by the way. He knows how to lay down a simple riff and just work it - like on Funk #49.)

Trevor/John,

"Just cause you wrote it, don't mean you can play it" is a quote I've had hanging on the walls of my classroom for many years now. It's my tribute to those folks who give guidance to those on the front-line without having a clue as to what the real problems and challenges are. Take courseware designers for example. If they had to teach what they wrote they would sure write it differently...

Thanks to both for the terrific clip...

John and Dave- how good would it be to have a beer or two with Joe? ... I gather he has been off the alcohol for 10 years or more

John,

I love JW and really enjoyed his solo stuff too. Ordinary Guy sums up his stance on playing in a r-n-r band ("Everybody say 'I'm Cool'"). One of my favorite all time songs is The Confessor by Mr. Walsh. I remember I took a trip down to Lubbock with my two oldest kids and introduced them to Joe Walsh and The Beastie Boys in the car. We had a great time listening to both of them. Generally, music sucks today. We lived through some of the most fantastic rock-n-roll ever with the Eagles, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, AC/DC, Clapton, Van Halen, The Who, The Stones, KISS and many more.

I've noticed, at least with a generation 20 years younger than me, that they lack innovation and creativity because of the constant bombardment from games, text messages, etc. They always seem to be reacting and thinking less than we did. I'm glad that I didn't have cable, video games, and a cell phone growing up. Give me a creek, a skateboard, and a bicycle and I'll see you at dinner time. I miss those times for my own kids.

Hey Trevor...keep up the blogging. Hope all is well.

Thanks for your comments - as always Scott

Hope you are keeping well. All is well here my friend after few months of chaos, financial problems and stress. But hey that normal isn't it???!!!

Political correctness has meant kids take less risks than we did I guess ..... I share your regrets about that.

Scott, I've been wrestling for awhile with the notion that "generally, music sucks today." I keep holding out hope that there are young bands out there who are truly cutting new ground and that I just haven't heard them yet.
