Manchester United and Sir Alex - CHAMPIONS!

I am on cloud nine on this glorious Sunday

Manchester United won the Premiership Title this afternoon for the 10th time in the 16 seasons of the existence of the Premiership. An unparalleled record in English football. The Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is 66 years young and still has the enthusiasm and passion of a teenager! I would say if you really want to study leadership – look no further than Sir Alex.

Congratulations, Trevor! As a Boston sports enthusiast - who takes athletic contests WAY too seriously - I can relate.

Thanks John - I am as self confessed football (soccer to you of course!) 'Nut' - particularly when it comes to Manchester United.

Bill Shankly the former Liverpool Manager now sadly no longer with us once famously said;

'Football is not a matter of life and death …. It’s far more important than that'

That is how it is over here! :-)

Fans have to know how to celebrate - you are a great inspiration to fans of all clubs and all sports... You inspire us to dream of when WE will be celebrating the success of our heroes!

Is that a type of leadership??? I think so...

Congratulations to you Trevor for celebrating the way one should such a great team, a legendary manager, and such a marvelous institution which is well known to me simply as Man U...

Congrats to Man U, Trevor!

I'll look for the game on replay as it should provide some insights on how the MLS All Star team can take on West Ham when they come to the US this summer.

In the mean time, enjoy Cloud 9!

Richard – thanks for that – I am very proud to be a fan of Man U since I was 11 in 1963. The club is an institution and is far and away the most loved club in the world. There are fans in every corner of our planet. I remember when I first visited Spain I spoke no Spanish and the old guy I met at a petrol station spoke no English … the way we got to understand each other was by talking about Manchester United, Sir Matt Busby, George Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton ….. No other football team in the world has that charm

Steve – Cloud nine is a great place to be thanks. Hope you can catch some of the highlights of a brilliant season where Man U played some superb football and fully deserved to be champions. West Ham always play attractive attacking football and you should enjoy watching them against MLS All Stars. Let me now how it goes –when is the match?

Congrats on another title and over the course of the season very much deserved, despite the errors made by Steve Bennett yesterday.

Sir Alex looked so excited it could have been his first title, and I think that's what makes him such a good manager - his enthusiasm for the game.

The only fly in the ointment for me is Ronaldo, who once again showed he is too lightweight, stopping at leat 3 times for what he deemed was a foul and was no more than a slight knock. Such a great player, who would truly be the best in the world if he could sort out that side of his game

Thanks for your comment Fraser –the decisions balance out over the season I think for all teams.

Sir Alex is incredible – and gives us all hope. I can seriously imagine him going on well into his 70’s

Ronaldo is growing up with every season – for me he IS the best player in the world now …. but I accept I might just be a little bit biased

Best regards

Trevor

I agree with Richard's comment about your being a fan's role model. I'm thinking they should have a spot on the payroll for you because of the millions they don't have to pay in marketing and advertising spreading the word in a way no PR person could. I'm the same way when it comes to Oakland, be it the baseball A's or football Raider's. Of course we've not had a great deal to cheer about sine the 1970's except for the occasional one season run.

Great stuff...

Hi Dave - I would work for Manchester United for no pay such is my love for the club and all it stands for. I'm sure you are the same with Oakland. There are some things that are just more important than money. I really can’t explain my love for Manchester United – it seems to me the club is just a part of me
