Good to be back

I’ve missed my regular discussions with friends, old and new on Simplicity Blog and so after a complete break from Blogging for 6 months I’ve decided to write again.

I now see even more hypocrisy in politics. For instance we now have a bunch of politicians who were not elected running Britain. They are implementing policies that have no mandate from the British people. They are loose cannons with power and that is dangerous. If this happened in a third world country we would be raising our arms in horror and calling it uncivilized. Britain is so arrogant!

Mahatma Gandhi when asked what he thought of democracy in Britain, replied famously:

“I think it would be a very good idea”

We now have Clegg that well know puppet of the Tories - and Cameron, born with a golden spoon in his mouth – who are both millionaires, telling the rest of us we all have to bear the pain in the current recession.

There are over 20 millionaires in the Cabinet so I would love to hear about the ‘pain’ they are suffering when compared to the 2000 front line workers sacked this week by Manchester Council.

It’s good to be back – things don’t really change. We need Simplicity more than ever because Simplicity mean straightforward talk – not the sort of political clap-trap we constantly hear from the crop of dull and boring politicians we now have.

Happy Simplicity New Year!

Thank you sir for getting back into the blogging business. Your presence has been missed indeed!

261 members of our Congress are millionaires and the number is probably higher given the obscure rules we have for reporting wealth and how campaign funds can be used. Couple this with the fact that political benefit rather than fixing folks problems is the policy focus. Billions are spent on programs that don't produce results and given to the same incompetent administrators that wasted billions the year before. Over here, it's past time for the "public" to become re-engaged in the "public policy" at the local level...where the voters are!

Great to have you back my friend!

Hi Dave and thanks as always for your comments.

Over here it seems to me most Politicians ignore their constituents quite frankly.

My political hero the great 85 years young Tony Benn always said that when he was an active elected member of parliament that he had 100,000 employers – i.e. ALL his constituents.

Tony produced these 5 questions that he says we should ask anyone who has power. I love the simplicity of this!

What power have you got?
Where did you get it from?
In whose interests do you exercise it?
To whom are you accountable?
How can we get rid of you?

Good to see you back at "Simplicity" writings and 'am immensely pleased to read your writings as well interact with our esteemed and dedicated simplicity collegues.

While Dave calls them "Incompetent Administrators", I would like to describe them as "Incompetent Clowns."

Five ?s from Mr.Tonny Ben are obviously are wisdom based and thought provoking and in my opinion answers to all his 5 ?s are 100,000 constituents of Benn.

Would ,iovee to read more of your writings and interact with our collegues.

Great feelings my dear and you have gifted all of us for New year with your coming back to Simplicity writings.

Welcome back to the blog world, Trevor.

Simplicity is much needed in most aspects of life today. Can't wait to read more of your blog musings.

Tony Benn has crystallized the great challenge of those in power with his simple questions. Every elected or appointed official should be asked this by the people they represent.

JK amd Marilyn - goodtpo hear from you both

Its great to be back in Blog-land!!

Tony Benn is inspiring and it is a shame we do not have conviction politicians like him these days. Politicians are all more interested in image and not substance or principles.

Well as far as I could understand for the past65 years of my life, if there is good substance coupled with accetable principles by and large they are not to be described as Politicians..................There are true exceptions to this fact but they are very few and rare.

Hi JK - Tony Benn talks with great affection of how he met Mahatma Gandhi. In my reflective moments I wonder how the world might look right now if we had those two peace loving people in positions of political leadership.

Hi Trevor,

Glad to see you back. I love the rules from Tony Benn which all politicians should live by. As I'm sure you're aware, we here in the U.S. are dealing with the mass murder of citizens in Arizona and the attempted murder of others, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. One result of this horrific act is that we now seem to be engaging in a healthy debate about our political discourse with some people on both sides saying we need to tone it down. It is my fervent prayer that that idea will take root and become a fixture in our national dialogue. And so, I would add this question to Tony's list: Do you pledge to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric at all times?

J.KANNAN said...

Yes Trevor,
I do totally agree with you and endorse your views. And in my earlier opinion that indicates true esceptions that are very few and reare certainly does include Tony Ben & Mahathma Gandhi on the TOP.

Regards,

J.K

Hi Anonymous – is that John?

I think your 6th question is brilliant. Many politicians inflame things unnecessarily through their words.

I was sad to see the tragic events unfold in Arizona and our prayers are with the families affected. Let’s hope it is a catalyst for fundamental change.

JK - Mr Gandhi is one of a those great people in history I would love to have met.

I feel blessed that I have met Tony Benn two or three times and have had a few conversations with him. He is a wonderful man and I feel that humility - almost to the point of self deprecation - is one of his many great qualities.

Hi Trevor,

Yes, the comment from anonymous was from me, John. I couldn't get logged onto my account for some unknown reason so I'll try again now. It's said that curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back. How did you know it was me? The curiosity is killing me. 8-)

John - intuition I guess my friend. I feel I get to know the 'person' through their comments - all my regular comments have their own distinctive style.

Welcome back to you Sir!

I look forward to more of the same from you :-)
