Never give up!! (ps Never give up) (pps Never give up)

When all the work we are doing seems pretty pointless, all our effort is not being acknowledged and no one seems interested we must not lose our vision and our belief in what we are doing.

Annie and I were listening recently to the story of Winston Churchill who re-visited his old school to give an address. The expectant young students were looking forward to one of Winston’s great speeches. The entire school gathered in keen anticipation. Churchill entered the packed school auditorium and said;

“Never give up …. “Never give up …..Never give up.”

That was Churchill's speech.

Dogged determination, hard work and doing your homework have always been three of my guiding simplicity principles. I do not believe in overnight success.

I received this quote from Unstoppable http://www.unstoppable.net/

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all."- Dale Carnegie

Dale Carnegie was another of the great thinkers and writers and of course he was also a ‘doer’

Those are some of the most important words ever spoken. It was against the backdrop of the war that he spoke those words. they were more than words. They were ideals of a country. They were an ideal that was driven into a country that was driven by them. Great stuff.

Thanks Rocky

There was a poll a few months ago here in the UK asking who was the greatest Englishman of the 20th Century and needless to say Sir Winston won it.

One of my favorite Churchill quotes is "You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory."

"To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often." These words have been attributed to Winston Churchill. I have often used this when teaching change management. But, read it closely and you will see the paradox Churchill was really talking about. (If we become perfect, why do we need to keep changing? If we are always changing, how do we reach perfection?)

Sir Winston's character and personality are widely remembered, but we forget that he was also ridiculously intelligent as well.

Trevor,

I totally agree with the "Never Say Die" attitude. It's a must for everyone who wants to make a "dent in this universe" - to paraphrase Steve Jobs. I believe "When the going gets tough; the tough gets goin"...To quote Ab Lincoln..."You can walk slowly as long as you dont walk backwards"...very inspiring!

When my goals seem too hard to obtain, I always ask myself, "Do you still believe in it?" And I do, so I don't give up. I just worry a little that crazy people think like this, too.

Marrianne, you say that like there is something wrong with being crazy.
